JAT Contract Calculation
Enhancement to Lawson HR

JAT Contract Calculation was developed to provide teacher contract functionality for Lawson HR. This enhancement supports the record keeping requirements necessary to track contract information as well as the methodology used to calculate employee wages appropriate to school district staff. Additionally, it enhances the ability to establish and track multiple positions for an employee.

Contract/Wage Calculation
The challenge of maintaining mid-year salary and contract amounts is simplified by adding the ability to combine both the previous and new salaries. Also, when hired mid-year, the employee's contract amount represents the total wages paid for the rest of the current school year. In lieu of the standard method of determining pay rate - based on hourly or annual salary amounts - a new calculation is provided to determine the contract amount. A new Contract Screen is included to track and calculate gross wages each pay period.

For example, school districts typically use an employee's contract amount less the fiscal YTD amount paid divided by the number of pay periods left to calculate gross wages each pay period. This is supported by JAT Contract Calculation.

Multiple Positions
It is common to have school staff with more than 5 positions either as primary or secondary positions.

Supported positions:
Primary position

Secondary position paying a standard amount over a specific period of time each pay period

Secondary position where an employee works a varied number of hours each pay period

The K-12 enhancement is delivered with additional system codes and menus. The design of this enhancement provides an easier and less intrusive approach to modifying the package, thus reducing the affects to future upgrades and maintenance.

Since JAT Contract Calculation is integrated with Lawson, the existing employee database records within the package are accessed during processing. No shadow or backup files are needed.
