JAT Payroll Encumbrance JAT Payroll Encumbrance, developed to meet K-12 Payroll requirements, uses existing Lawson Human Resource and Payroll data, as well as additional information, to track school district employee contract and non-contract hours, dollars and benefits through the life of the contract. This information is available to the General Ledger and for management planning and reporting. This system enhancement encumbers payroll wage expenses, stipend and addenda payments and any other wages the user specifies. The system also allows for the encumbrance of user-selected, district-paid benefit and tax expenses. It uses standard Lawson pay classes and deduction cycles to specify wages and deductions to be encumbered. The full flexibility of Lawson's employee, payroll and accounting features are available in JAT Payroll Encumbrance without restriction. Users have the ability to use employee data, job codes, position codes, deduction codes and payroll distribution records as a basis for calculating wage and deduction expense encumbrance amounts and determining GL accounts. Recognizing a need to encumber a single individual with multiple positions as well as multiple GL accounts, encumbrances are stored by employee and position code, with multiple positions and expense accounts fully supported. Key Features:
The JAT Payroll Encumbrance design includes a separate set of system codes and menus, thus making delivery of this feature easier and less intrusive to the packaged software. It also makes upgrade considerations less of a concern. Since JAT Payroll Encumbrance is integrated with Lawson, it uses existing employee database records within Lawson during processing. Users access all system functionality through a standard
menu system including Encumbrance System Set-up, Payroll Contract, Employee
Contract Maintenance and Encumbrance Update Programs and Reports.
