Client - Brooklyn Public Library
Assignment - Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) is the
5th largest library system in the nation with 60 branches serving 2.5
million people. JAT was retained to continue the implementation of HR,
Payroll and Benefits software at BPL after another consulting company
had begun the initial implementation.
Challenge - The challenges to successfully completing
the implementation were three-fold:
With a tight deadline and a limited budget, it was necessary
to work within the design specifications created by the previous consulting
firm.
To design an implementation strategy and process that
would effectively implement the original design specifications.
Completing the assignment within the approved budget
and project timeline.
Solution - JAT conducted a high level evaluation of
the library's infrastructure and made recommendations that improved upon
the original set-up, implementation and integration specifications. Within
one week, BPL executed a successful test payroll run. Based on these test
results the JAT/BPL team identified critical tasks and assigned them to
internal staff members in order to complete the project within the budget
requirements. JAT's technical staff completed mapping and conversion of
data from the old payroll system, conducted parallel runs and made adjustments
for differences in the Lawson setup.
Results - As a result of JAT's level of experience
and willingness to do what it takes to meet cost objectives, BPL was able
to go live on their Lawson system with the first payroll of 1999.
"With JAT's technical assistance we were able
to meet our scheduled go live date."
