For Lawson clients utilizing an outsourced payroll solution, the JAT
Payroll Interface (JPI) offers a comprehensive, reliable and tri-directional
integration linking Lawson Human Resources to several of the most popular
payroll service bureaus on the market today, including ADP, Paychex and
Ceridian.
JPI is designed to transfer employee information
and payroll time transactions from Lawson Human Resources to the resident
payroll vendor's software application in a simplified process. With this
procedure, users are relieved of having to manually enter the same information
in both systems. Additionally, after the service bureau payroll is run
and the pay data is imported, it is available for Payroll reporting, and
accessible to the Lawson Portal and employee self service.
Key benefits of JPI:
Cuts payroll processing costs by eliminating redundant data
entry
Improves data integrity by reducing keying errors
Enhances Lawson reporting capabilities with the addition
of payroll data
Extends Lawson Self Service Suite by making employee pay
data available
Allows HR to remain independent from payroll outsourcing decisions

JPI provides for the extraction and translation of changes made
to an employee's record for the specific payroll vendor's data structures.
The integration supports data elements common to both systems for new
hires, employee updates (i.e., terminations, leaves, address changes,
etc.), time/earnings transactions and one-time deductions. Upon execution,
JPI creates an export file, in the required vendor format, to update
the corresponding records in the third-party payroll application. The
process includes a transfer activity and exceptions report for audit purposes.
Capabilities are also available to transfer your data processed by the external payroll system back into the Lawson Human Resources system. This supports the consolidation and validation of employee data; expanding inquiry and reporting capabilities, while broadening the personal information accessible to employees through the Lawson employee self service module.
JPI also allows you to create all of your payroll
transactional data within the Lawson application. This means you can create
time records, payroll adjustments and deductions (including one-time)
on Lawson, and load those transactions to your payroll vendor for processing.
This truly makes Lawson the single point of entry for all data.
The purpose of JPI is to provide a dependable
integration between key business systems. Of course, JAT will be there
to insure your success by providing you with installation support, software
documentation and comprehensive consulting services.
"JPI is much better than the system we had previously. It allows me to have more control if I need to change a deduction code, etc. And since only the changes are transferred to ADP as opposed to all of the data, there is less information to audit. I really like the functionality of the product."
